Electric scooter loses control, falls into drain in Koyilandy; Tragic death to three MBBS students

KOZHIKODE: Three MBBS students died tragically in a road accident in Koyilandy Karuvangad. The victims were identified as Nanda Kishore, a native of Kollam; Abiyan, a native of Kayamkulam, and Abhinav, a native of Palakkad. The electric scooter they were riding lost control, hit a post and overturned into a drain.

All three of them were MBBS students of Malabar Medical College. One of them is a first-year MBBS student, and the other two are final-year MBBS students. Local rushed them to Koyilandy Taluk Hospital, but their lives could not be saved. The locals who carried out the rescue operation said that all three victims died on the spot. The accident occurred at 1.40 am.

A team led by Vadakara DySP inspected the accident site. The electric scooter had a defect at the rear. Locals suspect that some other vehicle may have hit it from behind. Since there are no CCTV cameras here, no footage of the accident has been obtained. The police are conducting further investigations based on the suspicions of the locals. The bodies have been shifted to Kozhikode Medical College.
