NEW DELHI: Amid supply concerns caused by the West Asian conflict, a ship carrying 16,000 tonnes of LPG has arrived at Mangaluru. The Singapore-flagged cargo vessel Pyxis Pioneer reached the Mangaluru port this morning. The ship had started its journey from Texas, USA, on February 14.

The tanker, which has a capacity of 47,236 tonnes, docked at berth number 13 of the port. Authorities said the process of transferring the gas to the Aegis Gas storage facility in Mangaluru has begun. After unloading, the ship is expected to leave early Monday morning. More gas shipments are expected to arrive from Canada and Australia in the coming days.

Meanwhile, another ship named Aqua Titan, carrying 96,000 metric tonnes of crude oil from Primorsk in Russia, had arrived in Mangaluru on Saturday. The vessel, which was originally headed to China, was diverted to India following a request. This comes after the United States allowed a one-month relaxation for India to purchase oil from Russia. The port had kept a berth ready in advance for the vessel’s arrival. The crude oil is currently being transferred to the MRPL refinery.
