Bose Krishnamachari resigned after sexual harassment allegation
KOCHI: Kochi Biennale Foundation Chairperson Dr V Venu said that Foundation President Bose Krishnamachari resigned following a complaint that he allegedly attempted to sexually harass a colleague. He stated that the woman had filed a complaint with the Internal Complaints Committee, after which Bose was asked to step down from his position. However, Bose had earlier said that he was resigning due to personal and family reasons.
According to the complaint, the incident took place on December 28, 2025, after the sixth edition of the Biennale began. The woman alleged that Bose invited her to a flat in Fort Kochi, where he spoke in a sexually suggestive manner and touched her inappropriately.
Soon after receiving the complaint, the committee convened a meeting and asked Bose to step down. This decision was taken in line with rules that prevent the accused from continuing to work in the same environment as the complainant.
No further action was taken as the woman was not willing to file a police complaint. Bose Krishnamachari, a native of Aluva and based in Mumbai, is one of the key founders of the Kochi Biennale. He also served as a co-curator in the first edition held in 2012.
