State Election Commissioner A Shajahan retires from service
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: State Election Commissioner A Shajahan has retired from service. He took charge as the Commissioner on March 31, 2021.
During his tenure, he led several important initiatives, including the delimitation of local wards. The voter list for local body elections was revised three times under his leadership. He also ensured that ward division, booth arrangements, and reservation of constituencies were completed on time, enabling the smooth conduct of the 2025 local body elections.
A Shajahan is a 2000-batch IAS officer. He has served as Secretary in several departments, including General Education, Higher Education, Social Justice, Local Self Government, Waqf, Minority Welfare, and Sports and Youth Affairs.
He has also held positions such as Director of General Education, Lottery, and IT Mission. He served as the District Collector of Kollam and has taken on roles like coordinator of the International Film Festival, Director of Panchayats and Urban Affairs, and Commissioner of Rural Development.
