AMBALAPUZHA: G. Sudhakaran, the UDF-backed independent candidate from Ambalappuzha, has sparked significant controversy following casteist remarks directed at CPM Central Committee member C.S. Sujatha. Speaking at a UDF election program in Ambalappuzha, Sudhakaran claimed that Sujatha exclusively visits Nair households and wears jasmine and tulsi flowers to signal a Nair identity to voters. He asserted that she would not receive support from the community and accused the LDF candidate of attempting to incite a divide between Nairs and Dheevaras.

Sudhakaran further levelled serious accusations against his former party regarding the death of his brother, G. Bhuvaneswaran, alleging that CPM members pressured his brother into attending college on the day of the incident. He claimed that "SFI goons" created the situation that led to the killing, a statement that marks a notable shift from his previous public assertions that "Nair goons" were responsible for the death.

In response, Sujatha dismissed the remarks as "extremely childish." She questioned how the standard practice of visiting constituents to solicit votes could be viewed with such malice, maintaining that her campaign efforts are a routine and transparent part of the democratic process.
