SIR effect! 26 lakh additional voters removed from list in West Bengal

NEW DELHI: In West Bengal, the state that is gearing up for the assembly elections, around 2,676,916 more voters have been removed from the supplementary electoral rolls following the SIR process. With this, the total number of voters removed has reached 9,083,345. This is according to the latest figures from the Election Commission. The number of voters in the state, which was 7.66 crore at the start of the SIR, has come down to 6.77 crore.
Most names were removed from border districts like Cooch Behar, Uttar Dinajpur, Malda, Murshidabad, Nadia, North and South 24 Parganas.
