Modi and Rahul Gandhi share rare friendly moment, video goes viral
NEW DELHI: A brief, friendly interaction between Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi has gone viral on social media. The two leaders, who are usually political rivals inside and outside Parliament, were seen sharing smiles and greetings. Many people reacted positively online, calling it a good sign and expressing hope that leaders will work together for the country’s development.
The leaders had gathered to pay floral tribute at the statue of Jyotirao Phule in Parliament premises on the occasion of his 200th birth anniversary. As the Prime Minister arrived, he greeted leaders, including Rahul Gandhi. Both exchanged smiles and folded hands in greeting. Modi also paused for a brief conversation with Rahul. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Union Minister JP Nadda were also present. The Prime Minister later took a group photo with Rahul Gandhi before leaving.
Sources indicated that Modi enquired about Rahul’s well-being during the interaction. The meeting comes shortly after Modi urged all parties to support the Women’s Reservation Bill unanimously in Parliament. The bill is expected to be introduced in the Lok Sabha on the 16th.
