KAMPALA: Uganda's army chief, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, made a bizarre demand to avoid severing diplomatic ties with Turkey. In his two main demands, Muhoozi asked Turkey to pay $1 billion for Uganda's long-standing military contribution to Somalia to fight militants. The second demand would make anyone sneer. Muhoozi demanded that Turkey provide him with the country's most beautiful woman to marry.

Although Kainerugaba's request drew opposition, it's not the first time he's made such a bizarre and sexually inclined request. In 2022, Kainerugaba offered to marry Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and promised to give her 100 cows in return. Years later, Kainerugaba is back with yet another of his unique requests, but now it is Turkey on the opposite end.

Kainerugaba threatened Turkey with severe diplomatic consequences, including the closure of the Turkish embassy in the Ugandan capital Kampala, if the demand is not met within 30 days.

The army chief, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, is the son of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni. There is also a huge outcry on social media against the army chief's strange demand.
