Teacher Ram is problematic, say students, ‘makes boys assault girls’
KANNUR: More revelations have emerged from classmates in connection with the death of BDS student Nithin Raj of Anjarakandy Dental College. The students allege that Dr M K Ram, head of the anatomy department and the accused in the case, is a problematic person.
The revelation is that he regularly uses abusive language and engages in body shaming. A female student also alleged that he would make boys assault girls. The police have registered a case naming Dr M K Ram and associate professor Dr M Sangeetha as accused in Nithin’s death.
‘We have also faced similar experiences but were afraid to speak out. The people known to this teacher are the ones who come as invigilators. There was a threat that if we create problems, would make us fail in exams. Complaints have been filed against him. Many students were deliberately given low marks and prevented from writing exams. Seeing this, no one dared to complain so far. Everyone here has a positive opinion about Sangeetha ma’am. When a senior person behaves like this, she may not be able to respond. That might be why she remained silent,’ said a student.
Meantime, protests are intensifying over Nithin Raj’s death. Alleging lapses in the police investigation, KSU and MSF activists along with the Democratic Women’s Association organized a protest march to Anjarakandy Dental College. KSU activists who forced their way into the campus and staged a sit-in protest were forcibly removed and arrested by the police.
