KANNUR: Dr K Ram, accused in the death of BDS student Nithin Raj of Anjarakandy Dental College, will be expelled from the college. The decision to expel Dr Ram from the institution was taken during the college management meeting held today. However, the college management has not yet made this official.

Dr K Ram is a teacher and head of the Oral Pathology Department at Kannur Dental College. Even before Nithin Raj's suicide, many other students had complained about Ram’s unruly conduct inside the classroom. After Nithin's suicide, more students came forward with serious allegations against the head of the department. Considering the situation, the management decided to expel Ram from the institution.

The management meeting also agreed that further action should be taken against Dr Sangeetha Nambiar, who was accused along with Dr Ram in the death of Nithin Raj.

Dr Ram and Dr Sangeetha are currently under suspension. Dr Ram is an accused in two cases registered by the police in connection with Nithin Raj's death. A case was registered against him under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and the Abetment of Suicide Act.

Dr Ram, a native of Andhra Pradesh, is still absconding. The police said that the search for him is ongoing. Meanwhile, DYFI activists organised a march to Dr Ram's dental clinic near Pala in Kannur. A ‘closed’ board was placed in front of the clinic.
