Safety breach on Jan Shatabdi: 70-year-old native of Chevayoor remanded for sexual harassment

THRISSUR: An elderly man has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman aboard the Kannur-Thiruvananthapuram Jan Shatabdi Express. The accused has been identified as Balakrishnan (70), a native of Chevayoor.

The incident occurred during the journey when Balakrishnan reportedly began harassing the woman. When the victim raised an alarm, fellow passengers and railway security officials immediately intervened.

The Shoranur Railway Police were notified of the incident, and officers took the accused into custody as soon as the train arrived at the Shoranur station. Following a formal complaint filed by the victim, a case of sexual assault was registered against Balakrishnan. He has since been produced in court and remanded to judicial custody.
