Thrissur Pooram to be held without extravagance; ‘Decision will be taken in consultation with district administration’

THRISSUR: In wake of the accident at the fireworks unit, there are plans to conduct the Thrissur Pooram without extravagance. Paramekkavu Devaswom Secretary G Rajesh said that a decision on Thrissur Pooram will be taken by taking into account public sentiment along with rituals.

‘The decision will be taken after consulting the district administration. When so many people lose their lives, there is a strong public emotion attached to it. Along with that, we intend to adopt a balanced approach by considering the rituals as well. Whatever the case, we will follow the directions of the district administration,’ said Rajesh. He also added that discussions are going on with the government and the final decision will be taken by considering both official guidelines and public sentiment.
