Death toll rises to 10 in Valparai accident, Allegations of medical negligence in Naushad Ali's death

COIMBATORE: Naushad Ali, the school bus driver, who was undergoing treatment at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital after being injured in a road accident at Valparai in Tamil Nadu, has died. He died early Wednesday morning. With this, the death toll in the accident has touched 10. The family alleged medical negligence from the side of the doctors in treating Naushad Ali despite his deteriorating health. He died while he was undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit.

Three others injured in the accident are still undergoing treatment. The condition of tempo traveler driver Muhammad Faiz, who is in Coimbatore Medical College, is still very serious. He is under observation in the intensive care unit. Sahadin Muhammad, who was seriously injured in the accident, has been shifted to the ward as his health condition has improved slightly. Doctors said that the health condition of 10-year-old Masnin, who is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Perinthalmanna, is satisfactory. She has been shifted to the ward.

The van carrying a tourist group from Malappuram Pang Palliparamba Govt LP School met with an accident at 5.30 pm last Friday. The accident occurred when the van fell 800 feet from the 13th hairpin bend on the Valparai Churam Road. The accident site is 30 km away from Pollachi. There were 13 people in the group, including women and children.
