21-year-old daughter of senior civil service officer found murdered; murder carried out using charger cable
NEW DELHI: In a shocking incident, the daughter of a senior civil service officer was found dead inside her house. The 21-year-old woman was found dead at her house in Kailash Hills in Delhi. Police suspect it to be a case of murder. They suspect that the murder was carried out by a former domestic worker. The murder took place between 6.15 am and 7.15 am on Wednesday.
The woman was strangled using a mobile charger cable. The woman, who had graduated in engineering, has been preparing for UPSC exams. She was the daughter of a senior IRS official. Her parents had gone out for a morning walk at around 6.00 am. During this time, the accused reportedly broke a window and entered the house. CCTV footage shows the suspect entering at 6:15 am and leaving at 7:15 am.
Police said the accused first hit the girl on the head with an object and then strangled her using the charger cable. The suspect is believed to be familiar with the house and its security arrangements. Police are also investigating whether the victim was sexually assaulted. Officials said this can only be confirmed after the post-mortem examination. There are also signs that the victim was dragged across the floor inside the house.
