Aishwarya shines with unique whistling talent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In old films, heroes often followed heroines while whistling to impress them. Now, a young singer from Kerala has turned that simple act of whistling into a complete musical performance. Aishwarya R. Nair (27), a native of Mavelikkara in Alappuzha, is winning audiences with her unique talent.

Aishwarya learned the art of whistling from her father Raveendran Nair, a central government employee. After returning home from work, he would announce his arrival by whistling. Fascinated by it, Aishwarya began imitating him. From the age of 10, she started practising regularly and gradually began turning songs into whistling performances.

She first performed on stage while in college. Though she currently has a small job in an insurance office, she mainly earns her living through stage shows. Aishwarya is now preparing to attempt a record in the London Book of Records.

Can perform up to 4 songs nonstop Aishwarya can perform up to three or four songs continuously without a break. She whistles both old and new songs and also performs audience requests during shows. She gained recognition through the song “Poomuthole” from the film Joseph. She has also appeared in several TV programs.

She has been featured in the Talent Book of Records and was also recognised as the first woman from Kerala in the arts by the London Herald magazine. Her mother is Geetha Kumari, and her brother is Ashwin. She is married to Sunil Kumar.
