Man kills youth to death to avenge murder of daughter

CHENNAI: A man hacked a youth to death to avenge the murder of his daughter. The incident happened in Thanjavur. The accused was released on bail in March. K Ajith Kumar (29), the accused had hacked P Kavya (26), a teacher at the government primary school in Alangudi in November 2025, to death. Ajith Kumar committed the crime when she was going to school on her two-wheeler. She died on the spot itself.

Ajith Kumar was in a relationship with Kavya. When she told him that she had been engaged, in a fit of rage, he hacked her. When Kavya’s father Punniyamoorthy, a former panchayat president came to know about his release, he along with his relatives, went to Ajith Kumar’s house and hacked him to death. After committing the crime, they surrendered at the Ammapettai police station. The court has remanded them.
