Accused held for sexually abusing minor in Kanjirapally

KANJIRAPALLY: The police took into custody an accused for sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl after barging into her house. The accused identified as Arun Suresh of Karimbakkayam was taken into custody Saturday early morning. He was caught from a rubber plantation in Kanjirapally and the police is questioning him.

The girl was sexually abused at her house on Thursday evening in Kanjirapally. There was no one at home when the girl came from school. Her mother was at her work place and one of her brothers were in school and the other had gone for work. The accused entered her house and asked for water. He then forcefully abused her sexually.

The victim soon informed her mother via phone. A probe started after the family lodged a complaint Thursday night at 9 pm. The girl and her family told police that the youth was seen in the area many times. The accused has been charged for rape under 376 and under POCSO. He was an accused in theft cases. The girl identified him from the photos showed by the police. After registering his arrest this afternoon, he will be produced in the court.
