Journalists detained in Mangaluru released

KASARGOD: Journalists detained by the Mangaluru police Friday morning have been released. A team of seven journalists was handed over to Kerala Police at Thalappady on the Kerala-Karnataka border.

Seven journalists of television channels who came to report the protests in Mangaluru against CAA were detained by a police team led by Mangaluru city police commissioner. The seven detained at 8.30 am was released after seven hours.


The police had seized their mobiles phones, camera, tripods and mike. The journalists said the police banned them from talking to each other.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had sent a letter to Karnataka Chief Minister V S Yeddyurappa demanding their release.
