Purpose of two-time norm is not to exclude anyone, general criterion for approval is not parliamentary activities: Vijayaraghavan, CPM announces candidates
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: State Secretary A Vijayaraghavan said the CPM prepared the candidates panel to help the LDF come to power. The CPI (M) has given seven seats including five seats to new parties. The front’s unity has helped to enhance the image of the government. Vijayaraghavan said this unity will continue if rule is regained.
The CPM does not think the general criterion of approval is parliamentary activities. Organisational activities are also very important. The purpose of the two-term norm is not to exclude anyone. Some are deliberately campaigning that the best have been avoided. The people will reject it, he said.
The list was finalised after considering the opinions of committees at all levels. The Congress and the BJP candidates list have the lowest democratic content. No one knows where the BJP candidate is, he criticised.
Vijayaraghavan alleged that a high level conspiracy is being hatched against the chief minister to stop further rule. Rahul Gandhi and Amit Shah are not criticizing each other. The CPM is the only party taking a stand against communalism in Kerala. It is only a delusion to avert continued rule through false propaganda, he said.
Representation of student and youth movements have been ensured. Thirteen people have been represented from these organizations. Apart from Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, ministers including K K Shailaja, T P Ramakrishnan and M M Mani and eight from organisational field like M V Govindan, K Radhakrishnan, P Rajeev and K N Balagopal are contesting.
There are 48 graduates in the list of candidates. Four below 30, eight between 30-40 years, 13 between 40-50 years, 31 between 50-60 years and 24 above 60 will be in the fray. 12 independents are also contesting.
