NEW DELHI: The Israeli embassy has said that the Israeli authorities will take care of the family of Soumya Santhosh, who was killed in a Hamas rocket attack in Israel.

"Soumya's family will be taken care of by the Israeli authorities in compensation for what happened, although nothing can ever compensate for the loss of a mother and wife." Israel's Deputy Envoy to India Rony Yedidia Clein said on Thursday.

The embassy said that Soumya's mortal remains would be brought to Delhi on a flight on Friday or Saturday and then transported to her hometown.

Clein further stated that there was no differentiation between how an Indian was being protected and how Israelis were being protected in Israel during the conflict.

Soumya Santhosh was killed in Ashkelon on Tuesday. Soumya, a native of Idukki, had been working as a caretaker in Israel for seven years.
