THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Former health minister K K Shailaja came forward protesting against the new administrative reforms of the union territory of Lakshadweep. It is one of the most beautiful places on earth. Lakshadweep has changed a place of comfort due to the unity of human beings. The former minister said the central government is trying to bring in facilities for big business in the area in the name of tourism and a hospital system should be set up first to save the lives of the islanders.

She in a Facebook post said people having more than two children are not allowed to contest in the local body elections and children are denied meat in school. She asked centre to withdraw from their decision to destroy the coral island.

Her post said Lakshadweep is one of the most beautiful places on earth. Lakshadweep is a place of comfort with its natural beauty and great love and unity among human beings.

I got an opportunity to visit Lakshadweep when served as the health minister. I was able to experience the sincere love of the people there. Had visited the hospital in Lakshadweep. The hospital was found to be very nice and clean.

However, high-tech facilities were limited and needed to be made available. The people of Lakshadweep depend on Kerala for high quality treatment. Special facilities have been made for people coming from Lakshadweep at General Hospital in Ernakulam and Kalamassery Medical College in Ernakulam.
