Lakshadweep administration shifts movement of cargo to island entire via Mangalore, appoints officials

BEYPORE: The Lakshadweep administration has decided to make the movement of cargo to Lakshadweep entirely through Mangalore port. The administration has appointed six nodal officers to enhance the service from Mangalore port.

Six people, including a senior official from Beypore, have been transferred to the Mangalore port. Beypore Asst. Director Seedikoya and others are in charge of Mangalore.

Meanwhile, Ports Minister Ahmed Devarkovil said the state government was ready to provide all necessary assistance to the people of Lakshadweep. Beypore port will be upgraded to international standards.

Earlier, the minister had said that the launch of a ferry service to all the islands in Lakshadweep would facilitate the movement of cargo into Lakshadweep via Beypore port.
