Attempt to abduct housewife who asked for lift, woman injured after jumping off bike

KOLLAM: A complaint has been lodged that an attempt was made to abduct a housewife who got on a bike after asking for a lift. The incident took place near Arippal UP School around 3 pm yesterday. The woman, a native of Chozhiakode, suffered a head injury after she jumped off the bike.

The incident happened when the woman was returning home after buying books from her daughter's school. After waiting for a long time on the road for a taxi, she waved to a bike rider and asked him for a lift. As soon as she got on the bike, the bike rider tried to take her to a nearby forest. Following this, the woman jumped off the bike and suffered a head injury.

The woman was admitted to the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital. The Chithara police have registered a case and conducted an investigation inside the forest. Police are trying to nab the accused on the basis of CCTV footage.
