Name and details of those who died of Covid infection in the state will be published

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Health Minister Veena George on Friday said that the government has decided to publish the names and details of those who have died of Covid in the state. "The district, age and date of death are being published in a bulletin on the Health Department's website. From now on, details such as name, age and place will also be published. The details will be published on the Health Department's website from tomorrow," the health minister said. The directive was given by the minister at a meeting of the health department officials.

In December 2020, the government stopped publishing the names of those who died due to Covid. The government stopped giving names after the death list became controversial. The new decision comes as the government and the opposition clash over the Covid death toll. The opposition had warned that it would collect the figures and release the list of Covid victims if the government refrains from publishing the list.
