KOCHI: The large-heartedness of the teachers and staff of Ernakulam Udayamperoor SNDP School is becoming a model for all schools. They have decided to provide financial assistance of Rs 2,000 per month to the families of 200 students whose lives were affected by the Covid pandemic.

102 employees, including teachers, have set aside a portion of their salaries for this purpose. This was done as part of the Gurukarunyam project launched by the SNDP meeting for the fight against Covid. The project will be inaugurated by General Secretary Vellapally Natesan at this week's meeting.

Following Covid, students from poor families were provided with smartphones, tabs, and TVs for online study. However, the school authorities came to know about the plight of many of these families after some time. Fundraising accelerated as all employees worked together to find a solution. Three months of funding has been found. A committee, which comprises KP Ajesh, D Saju, T Sarju, and Headmistress MC Beena, is behind this initiative. Financial assistance will be provided to the families of financially backward children.
