Central team to Kerala express serious concern on high TPR, directs to increase number of tests

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The central team expressed serious concern on the upsurge in Covid cases in the state. The team is continuing their visit to districts with high test positivity. The team under the Union Ministry of Health and Welfare visited Kozhikode and Pathanamthitta today. The team is mainly reviewing tests, contact tracing and treatment facilities. They also visited the Covid treatment centres in these places. The main directive is to increase the number of tests. In addition, it is suggested that more treatment facilities be set up and that scientific control methods be implemented.

The collector brought to the notice of the team the acute shortage of vaccine in Kozhikode. The team said they would inform centre. They will hold talks with high officials in the capital city tomorrow. A six-member delegation led by Dr S K Singh, Director, National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), reached the state on Friday.
