Where did the child get Nipah from? Police impose restrictions, ward closed, three districts asked to remain cautious

KOZHIKODE: Kozhikode is in fear of Nipah virus. The disease was confirmed in the ninth ward of Chathamangalam panchayat and it has been closed. Partial restrictions have been imposed in wards 10,11 and 12. Authorities have directed people with symptoms of fever and vomiting to contact the health department immediately.

There are five in the primary contact list. Seventeen are presently under observation. The source of the disease is being examined. Kozhikode, Kannur, and Malappuram are on high alert.

The centre promised all support for the control of the disease. The Centre for Disease Control team will visit the state. Meantime, the boy who died of Nipah will be cremated in the morning.
