Minister intervenes, employees of education dept can engage in literary and cultural activites

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Education Minister V Sivankutty said that the circular issued by the General Education Department on September 9, urging that employees of the department should seek permission to work in the cultural and literary fields, has been withdrawn.

The circular contained instructions for examining and recommending applications submitted by employees seeking permission to engage in literary and cultural activities. The minister said that the circular was withdrawn after noticing some reports which claimed that the General Education Department had imposed restrictions on art, literature, and cultural activities.
