Edamalayar, Pampa dams opened, Idukki dam to open at 11 am

KOCHI: The Pampa and Edamalayar dams have been opened. The two shutters of Pampa Dam were raised by 30 cm each. 25 to 50 cumex water will flow into Pampa. The water level in the Pampa River will rise to 10 cm.

The district administration said there is no need to worry and the water level in the Pampa river will not rise more than 10 cm. The maximum storage capacity of the dam is 986.33 metres. The two shutters of the Edamalayar Dam were raised by 50 cm each. The water from Edamalayar will reach Bhoothankett at 8 am. The Edamalayar dam was opened in August 2018 earlier.

The two shutters of the Idukki Dam will be raised at 11 am. One lakh litres of water will flow out every second. The water will reach Aluva and Kalady by 4 pm. The water storage capacity of the Idukki Dam is 2403 feet. The Cheruthoni Dam, part of the Idukki Dam, was opened in August 2018 following the catastrophic floods before. All five shutters were opened for weeks then.
