Names of unvaccinated teachers to be publicised today, those having health issues should produce proofs, says Minister Sivankutty

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Public Education Minister V Sivankutty said the list of teachers who have not taken the Covid vaccine jab would be publicised in the afternoon. Action is toughened in the wake of Omicron being confirmed in the country.

‘The district-wise count of teachers who have not been vaccinated will be released this afternoon. The society has the right to know how many people have not been vaccinated. The education department will take other steps once the chief minister's announcement comes as an order. Unvaccinated teachers and non-teaching staffs will be given a show cause notice. Those who have not been able to get the vaccine should undergo RTPCR test once a week and present it before the concerned authorities,’ the minister said.

Unvaccinated teachers will not be encouraged in any way. Those having health issues should produce the proofs of it. The minister said everything needed to protect the health of the children will be done in collaboration with the health department.

Meantime, the chief minister had earlier clarified that unvaccinated teachers and government employees could not be given free treatment. The government has also directed to take strict action if no health issues are found after examining unvaccinated teachers.
