CBI files charge sheet in Periya murder case; 24 accused including former MLA KV Kunhiraman

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CBI has filed the charge sheet in the Periya twin murder case. 24 accused have been named in the charge sheet, including former MLA KV Kunhiraman. CPM local leader Peethambaran is the first accused in the case. The charges include murder, conspiracy, destruction of evidence and possession of weapons. The CBI filed the charge sheet in the Ernakulam CJM court.

The CBI charge sheet stated that there was political rivalry behind the Periya murder. The assassination was aimed at ending Sharath Lal's influence among the youth. According to the charge sheet, the conspiracy started after Peethambaran was beaten up by Sharath Lal.
