Opposition that tried to sabotage LIFE project and free kit distribution is now plotting against SilverLine project: Kodiyeri Balakrishnan

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has said that the opposition, which tried to sabotage the LIFE project and the government's free kit distribution, was plotting against the SilverLine project. The CPM state secretary lashed out at the opposition in an article written on the party mouthpiece.

Kodiyeri alleged that opposition, including the Leader of the Opposition, are launching protests against the SilverLine project as they are worried that the UDF and the BJP would lose the support of the people if the semi high-speed rail becomes a reality. 'The central government, which had initially supported the SilverLine project, later changed its stance. It is of the view that Kerala should not grow as much when the LDF is ruling,' Kodiyeri wrote.

'The Centre has announced various multi-billion rupee projects in the poll-bound Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat. A new expressway is coming up in Varanasi and the Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed line is under construction. However, Kerala is not included in the 18 new lines initiated by the Union Railway Ministry, Kodiyeri added.
