Covid cases surging in state, more restrictions to be imposed, review meet today

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will convene a review meeting today to assess the Covid situation in the state. The meeting is at 11 am. The government will seek the advice of expert panel on the restrictions to be imposed and the preventive measures to be taken. Weekend and night curfew are likely to be imposed.

The meeting will also discuss the opening of the Covid First Line Treatment Centres (CFLTC) to assess the Covid situation in districts. 6238 were confirmed of Covid in the state yesterday. The test positivity rate crossed 11. So far, 49,591 people died from the virus. 34,902 people are presently under treatment.

The booster dose of Covid-19 vaccine will be administered from today in all states including Kerala. Vaccines are given to frontline workers and those above 60 years of age with related diseases. The booster dose is given nine months after taking the second dose of the vaccine.
