Kerala records 12,742 COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, 23 deaths

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state confirmed 12,742 COVID-19 cases on Wednesday. Among these, 11,327 persons developed the disease through contact, including 693 cases without an identified source of infection. 597 persons, who came from outside the state, tested positive for the virus. 125 health workers contracted the disease on Wednesday.

2552 patients tested negative for the virus today. As of now, there are 54,430 active cases in the state.

The state confirmed 23 deaths due to the virus on Wednesday with the toll rising to 50,254.

District wise breakup of positive cases:

Thiruvananthapuram 3498, Ernakulam 2214, Kozhikode 1164, Thrissur 989, Kottayam 941, Pathanamthitta 601, Kollam 559, Kannur 540, Palakkad 495, Alappuzha 463, Malappuram 449, Idukki 367, Kasaragod 262, Wayanad 200.

72,808 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
