Actress assault case: Probe team seeks more time for further probe

KOCHI: The Crime Branch team probing the actress assault case submitted its report over the progress in the reinvestigation before the trial court on Thursday. The team also sought more time for completing the probe in the case. The prosecution explained that its petition seeking more time to complete the trial was likely to be considered by the Supreme Court on Monday. The court will consider these matters on January 25.

Following the revelations of director Balachandra Kumar, the prosecution and the probe team had filed an application in the court seeking further investigation. Balachandra Kumar's statement and audio clips were submitted before the court. Dileep's lawyer demanded a copy of this evidence. However, the prosecution opposed this. Additional Public Prosecutor KB Sunilkumar appeared for the prosecution. The fifth accused in the case, Vadiwal Salim, also appeared before the court.
