KOCHI: Dileep arrived at the crime branch office in Kalamassery on the second day for the interrogation in a case registered against him and five others for allegedly threatening officials probing the sexual assault of an actress. The interrogation has started.

The crime branch’s move is to make all the accused sit together and question them. His brother Anoop and sister's husband Suraj have also accompanied Dileep. The high court had directed the five accused including Dileep to appear at 9 am. The outline on how to interrogate them on the second day was prepared last evening itself.

Anxiety and tension increased after the initial interrogation of the accused yesterday. The crime branch grilled the actor for 11 hours’ yesterday and the team reviewed that Dileep's replies were inconsistent. The investigation team also assessed that many of his replies were not credible. Reiterating that it was a fake case, Dileep said that he had not seen or has the visuals of the actress attacked.

Many of the questions were aimed at unravelling the conspiracy. Dileep's non-cooperative attitude at one point affected the interrogation. Dileep said that Balachandra Kumar was not his close friend and that he had met him only through a film. Kumar had promised to get him bail in the case through the Bishop of Neyyattinkara. When bail was granted, he demanded money in return for the bishop, but was not given. With this, Dileep reiterated that Kumar was angry and blackmailed him.

The crime branch has decided to question Kumar along with Dileep the next day. The accused not denying the voice samples handed over by Kumar will be crucial in the interrogation.
