All girls missing from Kozhikode found; four caught from Malappuram

KOZHIKODE: Four of the six girls who escaped from the Vellimadukunnu Government Children's Home have been found. When the police found them travelling in an auto in a suspicious manner at Edakkara in Malappuram, they chased and caught them. The girls told police that they were going to their friend’s house.


One of the six girls were found in a hotel in Bengaluru and one while returning home from Mandya in Karnataka. This girl told police that the others left for Goa. Two youths who reached a hotel in Bengaluru with the girls at around 2.30 pm yesterday, tried to book a room. The hotel staffs on suspicion asked for their documents. The hotel staff tried to detain them when they informed that their mobile phones were stolen and had no documents.

Six girls escaped by climbing a ladder on top of a building during Republic Day Celebrations at the children's home. They are between the ages of 15 and 18 and are involved in various cases. They got the help of two youths to escape from the children's home. Two teams of police had gone to Bengaluru in search of the girls.

As they had no money, the children travelled after borrowing money from people seen on roads. Following the incident, the State Child Rights Commission visited the Balika Mandir. The commission is also conducting a detailed investigation into the incident.
