Ayurveda doctors allowed to issue medical certificates to those who want to obtain driving licenses; Transport dept comes up with decisive order

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Practicing Ayurveda doctors are now allowed to issue medical certificates to those who want to obtain a new driving license or to renew an existing one. The Transport Department has issued an order in this regard on February 10. Until now, only allopathic doctors and Ayurveda doctors with postgraduate degrees were allowed to issue certificates.

The state government made the decision after the Indian Medical Council stated that BAMS doctors had qualifications equivalent to that of MBBS doctors.
