Russia-Ukraine crisis: Putin, Biden agree to meet under one condition

NEW DELHI: Amid the escalating Russia-Ukraine crisis, US President Joe Biden and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin have agreed to discuss the issue, informed US, French leaders.

Both the leaders have agreed in principle to the summit proposed by French President Emmanuel Macron, for ensuring security and stability in Europe, said a statement released by Macron’s office. The White House, in its statement, said that the US president will participate in the talks only if assured that an invasion will not occur. The White House also warned that it was still ready to impose swift and severe consequences should Russia invade. The summit was made possible after prolonged talks with Emmanuel Macron, Joe Biden, Vladimir Putin and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

Macron’s office and the Whie House have informed that US State Secretary Antony Blinken and Russian Foreign Affairs Minister Sergey Lavrov will formulate the agenda of the meeting, to be held on February 24.
