NEW YORK: A new variant of Covid has been found in Britain, said World Health Organisation (WHO). The variant XE is more transmissible than any strain of Covid 19, they said in their report. This is a new variant of Omicron itself, the report said.

The XE variant appears to be 10% more transmissible than Omicron which has spread worldwide. XE was first noticed on January 19. The health agency in Britain said 637 new cases have been reported here so far.

WHO assess that XE is a hybrid mutation of Omicron BA1 and BA2 variants. The WHO said they are studying the new variant in detail.
