Chatted with husband thinking him to be a woman, shocking twist after going home

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A man was arrested for looting money after locking up a youth at home. Sony (18) of Adimalathura Purampokku Purayidam was nabbed by the Vizhinjam police. Search is in progress for two of his accomplices.

The victim is a 20-year-old native of Vizhinjam Kalluvettankuzhy, who works at a mobile shop. The youth, who got acquainted with a young woman at his shop, used to message her on WhatsApp. The woman’s phone was with her husband. The husband had sent messages to the youth pretending to be his wife. He invited the youth to his house as well.

The youth, who came to the house on being invited, was locked up in a room by the woman’s husband, his friend Sony and another person. Later, they told him that they would let him go if he pays them Rs 1 lakh and a car. After being locked up there for a whole day, the youth gave them Rs 10,000.

The youth then drove to Kazhakkoottam in his car along with the woman’s husband and others, saying that he would arrange the rest of the money from his friends. On reaching Vizhinjam, he stopped the car and ran into a police station. The accused, who were in the car, soon fled the place.
