Toll only for distance travelled from now on, with start of GPS system toll booths in country will disappear

NEW DELHI: The Centre is all set to change the toll collection in the country. The new system will calculate the toll amount through GPS system. As a result, tolls will now be charged only for the distance travelled.

Testing has started on 1.37 lakh vehicles presently. The toll amount will be charged directly from the vehicle owner's bank account. With this, toll booths will be stopped. This is intended to replace the present fast tag method.
