A new history for Velloor, first reel paper of Kerala Paper Products will be released by Chief Minister today

KOTTAYAM: The first reel paper of Kerala Paper Products in Velloor, which was taken over by the state government, will be released by the Chief Minister at 11 am today. Hindustan Newsprint Limited (HNL), which the central government has decided to sell to the private sector, will start production within six months of being acquired by the state government at auction.

Minister of Industries P Rajeev will preside over the function. Minister V N Vasavan and former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will also attend the funtion. 42 GSM and 45 GSM newsprints, notebooks, un-surfaced grade writing and printing papers can be produced here. In the future, 650 crore will be invested in the production of packaging paper boards. HNL was started in 1982 on 700 acres leased by the state government. But due to mismanagement, it stopped functioning in 2019. They have a total of 252 employees.
