NEW DELHI: Shashi Tharoor MP, who is known for coming up with rarely used English words, has now shared his 'word of the era'. The word is 'doomscrolling' which means the act of continuously seeking out and reading bad news. In addition to sharing the word, Shashi Tharoor also tweeted that the increased consumption of bad news can lead to political depression as well as psychological harm.

Tharoor recently took a dig at the Ministry of Railways with another difficult to pronounce word- quomodocunquize. In 2020, the Railways had canceled the concession for those above 60 years of age to travel by train in the wake of the Covid crisis and Tharoor was criticizing the railways for not restoring it. The meaning of quomodocunquize is "'to make money by any means possible'.

Tharoor had earlier come up with words like 'quockerwodger', 'allodoxaphobia', 'floccinaucinihilipilification', 'farrago' and 'troglodyte'.
