BENGALURU: Six students, who came wearing hijabs, have been suspended by the college authorities. The incident took place at Uppinangadi First Grade College in Karnataka. Hijab-wearing students entered the classroom but were expelled from the classroom by teachers. The management then suspended the students for a week.

Management says the students violated the law and deliberately tried to provoke.

The management alleged that the students, along with other students, staged a protest following the expulsion. But the students say they did not break the law and still wear the same dress they wore before.

Earlier, the high court had upheld a government order banning the wearing of hijab in educational institutions in Karnataka.
