Opposition are strenghthening the protests against the Chief Minister following the revelations made by Swapna Suresh in the gold smuggling case. In view of this, the security of the Chief Minister has also been increased. A large police contingent has been deployed on all the routes taken by Pinarayi Vijayan.

DYFI national president and MP A A Rahim criticised the opposition for making this issue a controversy. His response was via a Facebook post.

'When all the allegations doesn't seem to work, the Opposition is having problem in providing security to the Chief Minister. An old piece of news for people with dementia. There was a time when a CM ruled the state with commandos holding guns. That too with guns used by the Indian Army on the border !!"

When Oommen Chandy was the Chief Minister, the then Opposition decided to intensify the protess and so it was decided to deploy a commando team to increase his security. It was rumored at the time that the CM would be accompanied by 15 commandos who were carrying guns used by the Indian Army on the border. Rahim wrote the post by sharing this news.
