THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An historic feat for the Kerala University. The University of Kerala here has been reaccredited with A++ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). This is the first time a university in Kerala is achieving this.

This is a rank equivalent to IIT standards. The University of Kerala obtained B ++ in 2003 and A grade in 2015. With the acquisition of A ++, the University will get projects worth Rs 800 crore from UGC. The work done under the leadership of Kerala University Vice Chancellor V P Mahadevan Pillai helped in achieving this.

The infrastructure will be evaluated and 70 marks will be given before the arrival of the NAAC team. The remaining 30 marks will be awarded directly after evaluating various facilities. All the departments had completed all preparations before the team arrived for the inspection.

Minister R Bindu said this was a proof for the leap of state's higher education department. The minister said other universities are also progressing in the same direction. The minister congratulated the university and all those who worked for it.
