Director KN Sasidharan passes away

KOCHI: Film and commercial director K.N. Sasidharan (72) passed away. He died yesterday morning in his sleep at his residence in Edapally. He is survived by his wife Veena Sasidharan, children Rithu and Mukhin.

Sasidharan, who received a diploma from the Pune Film Institute, made his directorial debut through the film 'Akkare.' Akkare, which was released in 1984, starred Mammootty, Mohanlal, Bharat Gopi, Madhavi, Rani Padmini and others. His notable film was 'Kaanathaya Penkutty' which released in 1985. The film starred Mammootty, Jayabharathi and Bharat Gopi. His last film was 'Nayana' (2014) which starred Anupam Kher.

Sasidharan is also the director of many famous television commercials. The commercial for the soap 'Vanamala' starring Kavya Madhavan and Siddique is popular among the audience.
