Murder of left leader politically motivated, all eight accused are BJP supporters, says police

PALAKKAD: Police say that BJP supporters are behind the murder of CPM local committee member Shah Jahan. The police stated in the custody application of the accused that it was a politically motivated murder.

According to the custody application, accused one to eight are BJP supporters and Shah Jahan was killed due to political enmity. It was Sabari, the first accused, who first hacked Shah Jahan with a machete. He was then hacked by Aneesh. The FIR report states that six other accused assisted in the murder.

Meanwhile, Palakkad SP had earlier revealed that the reason behind Shah Jahan's killing was the animosity between the accused over his growth in the party. The police said that after Shah Jahan became the branch secretary, the enmity of the accused intensified and some local disputes resulted in the murder.

Later, the district secretary of CPM himself came forward rejecting the police. CPM's allegation was that is an attempt to make it appear that the reason for the murder was personal enmity and that someone has a special agenda behind it.
