Woman quarrels with husband, walks on railway track; Police stop train and rescues her

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A woman, who attempted suicide by walking on a railway track, was rescued by the timely intervention of the police. The woman is a native of Mannanthala and was rescued by the Vanchiyoor police. The incident took place at around 3 pm at the Pettah railway station, last day.

The woman, who left her house after quarreling with her husband, arrived at Pettah railway station by afternoon. Later, she got on the railway track and began walking towards Thampanoor. On seeing the woman, the locals informed the police. Following which, the police arrived at the spot. By the time, the woman had already walked up to Uppidamoodu bridge. On seeing the police, she began to run forward. Meantime, a train was on its way from Thampanoor to Kochuveli. The police soon raised their hands and asked to stop the train.

The loco pilot, who saw the police chasing the woman, applied the brakes and the train stopped right in front of her. Later, the police nabbed the woman and took her to the station. Following which, she was sent along with her husband and relatives. The woman was saved by a police team comprising of sub inspector Radhakrishnan, CPOs Subin Prasad and Biju.
